Navara STX D40 questions

Hi All,
I am after some feed back on pros and cons about this vehicle, I read earlier about some fuel economy issues and a front diff problem should that be a concern.
It will be a family car (wife, 2 small kids under 5) used for general 4WD around WA and towing a camper trailer.
I am looking at buying a Navara STX T/D Auto 06 it has a range of options on it which include ARB bull bar with side rails and steps, rear bar/tow bar, factory snorkel , long range tank, tray liner, hard torno, it has done 40000 Klms, running 265/75/16 tyres 3 of which require replacing, I think they have been swapted. Would you say $44000 is a good price?
About the tyres would changing to Coopers or Mickey T’s be a good choice in the same size or different size be a better option.
Any information would be great good or bad would be great.

Cheers

Sounds pretty good but I would be shooting for around 38 -40. you've got nothing to lose by trying.
Have heard of a few people with fuel issues with the autos up around 20 litres per 100kms but this has only been a couple of things I've read on forums.

If you do get one the first thing on your list should be a suspension lift. A mate with an auto D40 has already punctured 2 transmission pans offroad due to the lack of ground clearance.

My big bro has the D40 6speed manual and he gets great economy. its around the 10's. Factory tyre sizes are too small for the car and hence the speedo was out by about 9km.

Also anouther thing is the D40 has a smaller 6stud wheel patern to the D22. Dont be caught out if getting a second set of wheels and offroad tyres as normal sunnies wont fit.
