Body Lifts

Hey guys, search no worky.
Just typed in:-
Body Lift
Body
Lift
GQ
and all That came up was no posts or something matched your criteria or something. MAybe i'm the one that is broken?
Anyway, just wondering about legalities concerning body lifts in QLD. you here a few things and they are different to each other. So can anyone clarify for me please.

contact Department of Transport... jump on the website, get the PDF of the Brochure on modifications. There is a phone number in there - ring it.
Basically, 50mm maximum, steel or alloy (all though I have an email from DOT stating they will accept nylon - ask).
Must apply before fitment - they will write back say ya or na. If ya, you fit and then book in for an inspection. Depending on who you get, they will likely do a full pit inspection.

Its at your own risk mate.
The worst the cops will do is defect your car and make you get it passed properly.
The big problem is with insurance in an accident if you have a smash and they find your car not roadworthy you could end up up shit creek paddle-less.

I got defected for mine. Simple fix, no fine. But the DOT guy was tops, so I was lucky.
I removed mine, and wouldn't bother putting one in on my next car. i dont see the point....

I have a 2" nylon kit, brand new, and have now been offered a 3" alloy one.
I thought that nylon was illegal, but if HeathGQ has an email stating it's not then i guess it's ok.
Should i put in the nylon kit, or try to sell it, and buy this 3" alloy kit, and cut it down to a 2"?

Pretty sure Polyurethane Blocks are legal if they have crush tubes and thick washes to stop the crush tube penetrating through the body.
Been told by someone who does blue plates in cairns that you dont need to get anything looked over for a 2" body lift. Best to check it out yourself though...
Also heard the laws should be changing from state to federal in Jan 09

What if the blocks dont have a crush tube? have heard both ways in regards to whether they are good or not.

Don't buy the 3"alloy one if you want it legal. QLD Transport will not pass it, 2"maximum!
I do know of someone that has been approved for poly body blocks with crush tubes and washers but have also heard of people getting rejected for using poly blocks.
Like anything with QLD transport, the answer will change depending on who you talk to and which day of the week it is
