gday

just had mine done, you can clean up the short sides a bit, smooth intake ports, radius the valve stem area to allow decent gas flow, but have been told not to waste money on doing the exhaust ports (besides matching) and instead spend your money on good exaust manifold, pump, and turbo (which i have done), get engine back next week after getting custom low mount shed10 304SS extractor mani fabricated...will soon see if it worked.

As there really is no combustion chamber in the head to speak of, unlike a petrol motor, shaving the head is of no real advantage in regards to adding compression, not that you'd want to if you are cramming a truck load of boost in. Take off only the minimum to make sure the head is straight and flat, exessive material removal will weaken the deck and make the outlet of the pre comp chamber thinner and even more prone to cracking. Deck the block and make sure you have sufficient liner protrusion to ensure good gasket seal at the bores.
I am putting the finishing touches on my motor TD42 for a GU with ported intake, camshaft, valve springs, HPC coated pistons, combustion chamber and exhaust ports, extractor exhaust manifold, custom intake and modded pump with custom roller bearing turbo. Am hoping for 200 rwkW, just finished ont with the same turbo and pump without the engine mods that made 170 rwkW.

Cheers

Gday

(Sorry to hijack)
joel, any chance of a shot of you extractors? i have finished a set that are lowmount roller bearing GT30 with water\air cooler but would be interested to see what youve done. Also what air box did you use? trying to fit a panel V6 commodore one but shes real tight with 2 bats.... custom required?
