ARB switch problem?

Hi Lads,

I just finished a ARB front locker install in my cruiser and I'm not sure if the locker switch is working correctly. When I turn on the compressor switch it lights up and the compressor fills the tank , and the locker switch lights up as well - but stays lit up whether the locker switch is in the on or off position. The locker switch itself works fine as the solenoid is actuated and the locker locks and unlocks wiht the air being expelled out the vent.

So, is the light supposed to be on all the time? Seems to me it sould only come on when the locker switch is activated.

Any ideas? Did I wire something backwards?

Thanks

Louis

i think from memory you have 2 wires around the wrong way, but cant remember which two exactly, check your wiring diagram and the switch,

The factroy ARB loom does a couple of things.
1. the locker switches ONLY get power to them when the compressor is turned on.
2. the front locker ONLY gets power to it when the rear lock is turned on

Then the switches have 2 globes in them.
1 globe is connected to the headlights, make this one the SMALL "window" in the switch.
Make the big window (has the pic on it) the light that comes on when the switch is turned on.

I think what you`ll find is you have put the supply active and the load wire on the wrong terminals. Swap those 2 around and it should be fine.

Blacks are the earths.
Blue is from the headlights.
Red feeds the compressor
The next 2 I can never remember which is which unless I`m looking at them. Its either yellow or green that feeds the rear locker from the compressor. Its these 2 that you`ll have back to front.

You have the two switching wires around the wrong way.
One should be red (Batt power) and the other either green or yellow (depending front or rear). Swap those two around. It should fix your drama.

Thanks Guys, wish we had those nissans here - can't get them though, I'd like one of the Nissan front ends as I hear they are pretty tough. Love my 79 though, best truck in Canada:) I'll try to work out the Canadian accent though - thought I had it right:)

Yes it is a left hand drive, but I mainly drive with my right hand:)
Regards,

Louis
