Sick of the rocky, just spotted a 2.4 Lux Dual Cab for sale might have a look at it this arvo.

Biggest question I have at this stage is economy? Any owners care to share what they use in L/100k?

And how gutless are they? It'll be step down from the 2.8TD I drive now  But I'm sick of unreliability. Which brings me to my next question, how reliable are they?

I know there's only limited info to go off, I'll try and post up some more info like year and amount of k's soon.

Ok its a 1984 Dual cab, 2L motor. Car has 265xxx on the clock, motor is a reco tho so at this stage I don't know how many K's

He wants $1500. Has vic rego till next month. Needs new tires, and maybe a pressure can spray over some surface rust to pass from what I can see.

Any one know the size of their fuek tank so I can work out Nat's consumption?

sweet. 10L/100 is good enough for me.

How do they go on the highway? Manage to sit on 100 ok? I gotta drive 55k's each way to work everyday.

mine sat on 100-110 untill i hit a hill and if the hill was long enough i would have to go back to 3rd ....but you learn to live with it...and if you can't well 4.88 diffs is not the answer as i put them in mine and was raving at 3500+RPM in 5th just to sit on 100

I get about 10-13L/100 will sit on 110 at 3000 RPM with 31's alright wouldnt push it much more tho. the tanks in them are 66L i think....reliable as long as they are serviced good and not thrashed as ive found out twice already

What problems have you had with it?

Undecided as to what I want really, but reliability is right up there in my needs/wants list. I know its always different between each car, especially when its so old, but Toyota's got a bit of a name with reliable cars.

The other thing I'm looking at, is an XF ute on gas. But yeah, its a ford, so luck of the draw really if its any good.

First engine i got with the ute it put a valve thru one of the pistons second engine just wore out and liked to overheat alot couldnt figure it out. but it was thrashed abit. got a reco engine from a wreckers with 10,000ks on it and looking after it hasn't really let me down yet. apart from some glow problem now a real bitch to try and start at below 0 temps.

you will regret getting the XF the hilux would be alot better if you get it change filters/oil straight away and keep up oil/ filter changes at 5000ks
