i have a 89 maverick LWB wagon and have noticed that my rear diff seems to be offset by about 30mm over to the right!

drives fine and no shudders and doesnt move around. have only really noticed since putting 35's on with new rims.

any ideas?

Have you lifted the truck recently?
Does it have adjustable panhards??

When you do a suspension lift the diffs will go out of symmetry. The higher you lift, the further it'll go. So long as front and rear are the same shouldn't affect drivability.

I kept mine like this for a few years after lifting 4". It bacame a problem when i fitted the 35" simexes as under articulation driver's side rear tyre scrubbed out badly.

Correctly fitting adjustable panhard rods will fix this problem and return your diffs to their proper symmetry. And they're heaps stronger than OE panhards.

If you haven't lifted truck then i reckon you've got a bent panhard rod.

righto i was thinkin panhards.

i brought the truck lifted with 33's and yes only has stocko panhard in the rear. i guess that it was prob like this all along and only started to stand out with the 35's on. i may have bent it too. ill check tomorro.

sounds like an easy fix. cheers

You'll have to replace front and rear. Otherwise it'll crab along if you adjust (lengthen) rear and leave OE in front.

The title was a bit confusing for me, as the diffs move to the drivers side when you lift them - not the passenger side.

If its just a lift/panhard issue, its an easy fix. Go for genuine panhard rubbers too if your truck is more of an offroad/weekender.

My missus could never work out why when i came back from a trip one side of the GQ would be spotless, yet the other side was as dirty as jenna jamieson.

PS. I still run the stock panhards on my car

yeh sorry bout the title. didnt realise til just then. the diff has definately moved to the drivers side (right).

i actually have superior panhard in the front although it doesnt crab so perhaps it is just not adjusted for the lift either.

anyhow thanks for the responses. any recommendations as to value for money on the panhards? Cheers

I'm half tempted at some solid bar ebay ones, as three of my contacts in the industry cant even come close the price some of the ebay mobs are selling them for. But i could be wrong - they could be shyte.

I'm sure someone will pipe up and inform us all.

ive got "custom" solid ones on my car... they came with it including my 6 inch high, 4inch lift. ive driven hard and fast over bumps tight corners etc. and they are straight as a die.

the only problem i think will be the bushes ripping off the tube, so im wrapping them and continuing it along the rod.

You mean the actual panhard bushes ripping out??

I replaced my panhards with genuine parts, and due to my castor "issue", they got chopped out on my first bush trip.

With everything considered though, i dont really think panhard rods are required to be super extra heavy duty, unless its on a comp truck. Take a look (and feel) of the genuine panhards - and they're flimsy as flimsy gets. I have never heard of anyone busting/bending one under "normal" 4wding conditions.

Solid bars are probably overkill, but at least you know you dont have to stress about them.

drift it hard into a gutter on the drivers side and see if that realigns it.

Positives of this would be that you chuck a hekitk dorifto infront of everyone which is sure to get the approval of uleh and the boyz.

No seriously coxy is right - typically we wouldnt put much stress on the panhard rod. But it can be done very easily without even trying hard. ie: fully sick uleh dorifto and the gutter dragon making sexytime with your rods - same thing can happen in mud and ruts i guess. I'm holding off replacing the panhards in mine because its become apparent that it may be in my (financial) interests to sell the old girl and put the money elsewhere (investments:x ).

Now you're talking rubbish.

Go to your room and have a good hard think about what you just said.

Come back when you have a reasonable explanation.

Nah not really talking rubbish.

A couple of months ago I almost bought a jeep wrangler. I'm still questioning my sexuality after that little incident.

haha im likin your thinkin yom. you wouldnt happen to have a video of you 'correcting' yours by any chance?

I mite just go the replacement way straight up save replacing every bent or broked piece following a bit of drifto meets gutter action.

cheers
