Hey guys just had my tank tested at a gas joint...passed with flying colours, but now i have tried to fill it and the most i can get in is 8 cents!! the gas tank is empty and i need to put gas in it before mounting back on the patrol because its strait gas...i rang the gas place and i had it upside down tryng to fill it so the floats would of been all over the place but turned it up the right way and still nothing......anyone got any ideas?

might have had an air lock at the fill handle/cap.
though wouldn't simply be a case of the tank being full of air and can't release/remove the air to fill up with gas?
can't help too much though use LPG forklifts and the air lock can happen and not allow gas to get into the engine.

i had the same problem with my gas tank after i had it tested. could only get 15cents or so in.
turned out to be a sticky one way valve or something. it cost about $150 to get replaced. i wasn't happy cause i couldn't understand how it passed a test, but the bloke said "WE TEST FOR LEAKS NOT IF YOU CAN FILL IT".
bit of bull shit if you ask me.

i had filled the gas tank prior to the test so it was working before it went in there, so hopefully its there fault. lol didnt know i was gonna test it until i decided i would and lost 3/4 tank of gas

What we do is push in the centre of the valve it's a pin that moves in and out, move it a few times and seems to go ok after that on the forklifts.
may help someone, if it's the same deal.

TAKE IT BACK
If its been 'properly tested', they will have replaced a couple of valves ( this should be done regardless of working condition).
Sounds like an issue with the AFL valve, its the one thats designed to shut off the gas flow when the tank is 80% full, yours has shut off even tho the tank is empty....
again.....
TAKE IT BACK

so now i can go about finnishing my truck for the engine work to start
