Hi Guys and Gals,
Question: Glow plug light.
Is it normal that the glowplug light keeps flashing for a few minutes even though engine's up to temperature? I'm living in Spain and temps are averaging 34 degrees C.
It's a 2.8 TD MQ/MK, GY60 hybrid (don't ask, Europe only 260).
What I'm trying to say is that I can sit with ignition switched on, then, after glow light goes off, I start engine and all's good - BUT - glow light starts up again and goes off after approx 5 K's or 2 or 3 minutes.
I leave this in your capable hands. No other obvious problems......
Cheers,
Rinse.

GLO-PLUGZZZZ!!!???
the RD28T has a weird glow system, it has 2 seperate relays to run the Glow plugs, 1 Relay works as the quick glow system to heat the engine up at cold, the 2nd keeps a few of the plugs going while its warming up. Usually one of the relays goes and this causes the light to blink on the dash to let you know there is a fault.
Failing that, the Glow plug control box could also be on its way out. My mates GQ with the 2.8TD has this same problem, his solution was a V8 commy engine
