You wouldnt want to have a dodgy engine mount. Would start hitting the heads and other bits on the engine bay.
I hope the VH45's arnt' this close.

drivers side shot, plenty of length, the gearbox and transfer was moved forward 1", the rear drive shaft has enough spline to accomdate, the front shaft had to be shortened

top shot of drivers side, the steering box was spaced away from the frame 1", with solid spacers and longer bolts, it still uses the stock diesel patrol radiator, with a single 12" thermo between the radiator and the engine driven fan

uses wolf version 4 computer, 180kw, at the rear wheels in 4th gear at 160km/h on the dyno

this conversion has been running for 18 months now with only clutch problems but that has been sorted with a huge custom clutch on it now

There is plenty of room between the top of the motor and the bonnet

when you blow up your TD42 and are up for 8000 on a rebuild and you have a 1UZ-FE in the shed doing nothing, which has only done 60,000km, has double the power in stock form, has half the weight and only cost 6000 complete to swap including original purchase of the engine 2 yrs before, what would u do

so you are saying a toyota driver is a straight bloke and a nissan is a gay bar?

WTF?

Hey, there has been a lot of conversion questions on V8 into patrols asked lately and Bubs is simply helping out, the pictures are very interesting and might throw some more ideas out, surely the sound of 180kw lighter and cheaper sounds good to some, regardless of who made the motor?!!

Another thing is the idea of a VH45 (Q45/Infiniti) conversion has come up a lot lately, this shows it can be done, it also shows the SIZE of the alloy Jap V8s, they are big, they are wide, they are tall. They are big block size, with the overhead cams, deep V and all the intake up on top.

Anyways, thanks bubs, I enjoyed the pictures, and I am sure they will come in handy for someone. Ignore the haters, they are probably jealous.

What a load of shit this thread turned into. You tossers are as bad as the Holden & Ford guys, one day you'll realize that every manufacturer has put out their shit & they've all had their wins too. MORAL? don't let pride get in the way of building a good truck.

Has anyone fitted a Q45 / VH45 to a Patrol?

I am going to do an engine swap on a GU 3.0 and am tossing up whether to go the Infinity or 1UZFE route. The Q45 is fairly cheap now (Compared to when this thread was started) and the extra Torque looks good on paper but they are a damn big engine.

I want it to push 35's and I want it reliable.

Thanks for that. I have sent them an email to get some more information.

400NM should be enough to push the 35's :)
