Have some 4.3 gears to replace the 4.1's currently fitted. Need to know if the pinion shims need to be changed. I was told they should go straight in, but don't want get half way through the job to find they have to be changed like they do when going from 3.9 to 4.6.

Any ideas?

pinion shims depent on the length of the pinion.

if everthing was able to be machined the same there would be no need fot eh shims in the first place.

not sure about the nissan stuff. but most other diffs i've built have had correction factors marked on the pinion. by using the factors of both pinion and size of shims on the original pinion, you can work out what you need to fit to the new one.

if not you need to fit a dummy arbor and check the pinion depth with feeler gauge
