HID replacements 61/62 80 series cruisers

Post by flyology »

Has anyone with a 4 headlight 60 series or and 80 series cruiser replaced their standard lights with HIDs?

Is there any issues with the standard toyota headlights being negative switching when converting to HIDs?

Anyone bought HIDs for their cruiser from ebay, and are they happy with them?

thanks,

MB

I have an unused set of spotlights that slot in and replace your high beams.
Give me a ring and we can talk price. They are a straight replacement unit.

Thanks Toad, but I have H1 inners already, so I can change to a brighter globe if need be. Really considering going HID, have done a bit of research and quite a few people have bought the HID kits on ebay and are pretty happy with them.

Main thing I can see is if you get a Hi/Lo kit, get one that moves a shield over the globe, not one where the globe moves.

dow50r, what brand kit did you get, and who did you get it from?

I hear to many people complaining about the H4 hi/lo HIDs failing and people with HIDs that are too friggen bright on low beam shit me.
So what I did on my Ford Territory is just put HIDs in the inner High beam part of the dual lights and just put a quality H4 hallogen in the High/Low part.
It works well. 50watt HID Highbeam rocks :)
I may get a H4 kit in the future when they sort out the problems with them.

Hi guys, Just installed one of these HID Hi/Low kits, but now my high beam indicator light has stoped working (high beam lights and low beam lights all come on as normal) did you have this issue?

I bought 4 HID's from this guy, 2 chokes have failed in the first few months. The other 2 are still going strong, difference in light output is heaps....be aware that the hid needs to warm up for 30 seconds....so dont expect to flash anyone with your inside highs....or if you buy single beam HID like normal low and hid high....
