Power Steering Questions

Hi there, this is a copy of a thread i am running in the Rover section but I could be helped from anyone with power steering knowledge. I am trying to fit a Ford Power Steering pump to my Landrover D1 3.9l. Got it all mounted up then found a stupid oversight. The fluid outlet is on the back of the pump instead of the bottom and i only have about 25 to 30mm between the head and the back of the pump, anyway i can move the pump further away and down to create some access to the out let on the back of the pump but have 2 problems, the belt not long enough and the outlet hose will be real close to the exhaust manifold. Will ring around tomorrow to see what i can find out but in the mean time could anyone ease my pain by answering any of the questions below.
1. Can i get a slightly longer surpentine belt that will suit the rover?
2. can i get an elbow adaptor that will screw onto the pump and allow me to screw on the outlet line, the fitting would need to be specially suited as they seem to have a kind of pressure bypass built into them? I am assuming pretty much all power steer set ups have the same screw in conection.
3. If a canot get the adaptor, can a mobile hose guy shorten the end of the outlet line and re-bend to suit the mod.
4. If running the line close to the exhaust manifold should i expect problems from the heat?

should be able to put a right angle adapter in there or shorten the original line going in. ring cbc or some other bearing place and ask if there a longer belt to suit your application.
a heat shield could be made to reduce the amount of direct heat on the hose.

enzed have an adaptor to suit ford power steer pumps, which will adapt to a 9/16 JIC (standard hydraulic fitting) which you can get 90* elbows for, the end of the HP hose would need to be changed to suit it too. 30mm would still be cutting it pretty close with this setup. the other option, depending on pump fitting thread, is to use a banjo bolt but again get enzed out and they'll be able to come up with something.

longer belts shouldn't be a problem, as said by simkell try a bearing shop.

cheers,
Mark.

cheers guys, discovered banjo fittings today, picked up scand hand one for free from my local power steer shop, took it down to the hose fixes and they welded a male fitting to it for 15 bucks, pick it up tomorrow, hopefully problem fixed. :D
