Radiator shroud - answer found

Have an aftermarket radiator that I'm fitting into my 1.3L ... lines up with the chassis mounts perfectly, but the shroud off my original radiator doesn't fit. The mounting holes don't line up and the top takeoff pipe is located where the shroud wraps around.

Unfortunately I no longer have my original radiator to compare with (radiator shop were meant to flush and clean it for me but 'lost' it) ... anyone mind taking a photo of your shroud / radiator for me (piccy taken looking back at top tank from over the head would do the job) so I can see whether my shroud or my radiator is non-standard?

Rang the radiator place and they apparently supply our Suzuki in the City dealership with them, so it should be the right one....

I'll post a pic of mine tonight when I get home. Will cut mine up if I have to but would rather buy a new shroud if mine is non-standard. Cheers for any help.

Here's a photo of the shroud and radiator. Only the bottom right hand mount is correct - the other 3 are off line - and I'm going to have to cut the shroud out to fit the top offtake.

Does this shroud look like an original?

Definately not the right shroud. The radiator looks right though.
That shroud 'might' be Vitara.. not sure.

Yeah it's pretty obvious it's not the right shroud for that radiator - I just wanted to confirm that it was the shroud that was not a Sierra one, rather than my radiator being the wrong one

Radiator was replaced 80,000 k's before I bought the car according to the sticker that was on it, so it might have been non-standard. Will visit the wrecker's tomorrow avo and see if I can pick up a Sierra one.

lol would be nice if it were that simple

fan is on the right hand side of the photo ... shroud has to go that side or it won't fit

Erm yeah, maybe if my zook lived on its roof.

Filler cap is at top of photo, drain plug is at bottom, top outlet pipe to thermo top right, return pipe bottom right. Fan shroud goes on the engine side of the radiator. The setup in the photo is correct.

Sorry, just my sense of humor. Looks to me like the shroud is the wrong one, bit dark outside to compare with mine now though

Apparently early model WT (about 88 - 91) come with steel tank radiators from factory, while late model WT leafies (92-96) come with plastic tank radiators. Mine (93) was fitted with a plastic tank when I bought it and so had the shroud to suit.

In buying a new aftermarket radiator I had the choice of plastic or steel tanks and went with steel. The top tank on the steel tanked radiators is apparently shorter than the plastic tanks, hence the top outlet hits the shroud designed for the plastic tank.

Ordered a new shroud for a steel tank radiator - $35 thru Suzuki in the City. Should be in later this week - will update if it fits.
