gday
ive got a 88 mav with a td42 in it and last weekend it started getting pretty warm and was losing water pretty fast through the overflow bottle's overflow tube. I replaced the radiator cap (which looked fine anyhow) the next day (as i wasnt getting any pressure in the hoses) then went out driving on the beach in soft sand all day working really hard and it stayed nice and cool.
Yesterday was out wheelin again and it started getting a little hot doing relatively little work. today i drove it and it stayed nice and cool. I have just brought a new thermostat and i will give it a go.
I am just after some opinions on what might be doin this. In my way of thinking a dodgy thermostat would cause these irregularities - but would it cause loss of pressure in the system from time to time?
thanks in advance
