What sort of mods can you have in the NT?

Gday all.
I'm thinking about a move from NSW to the NT and wondering if I have to get rid of the old girl.
I have a 100 series with 5 inch lift and run 35s.Engineered.
Will I be able to get rego up there?

Mate runs a 6" lifted V8 hilux on 35's up there. He has no issues.
You get to see alot of forbies on 35's up there. Coppers have better things up there to do than harass forbie owners.

issue will be that you have to go through the Motor Vehicle Registry to be able to get the rego transferred from interstate. You're not meant to have more than a combined 4" of lift. Since you're over you may need to get temporary rego and then apply to the Technical Advisory Council (TAC) to get the car approved. If its already engineered this is generally not an issue.
Give those numbers a call and ask to talk to the Test Shed Supervisor who will direct you in the process.
There are several cars that have gone through the TAC process including a pretty wild Suzuki without an issue.

I've had a form emailed to me to request mods but I don't want to do that before hand if I don't have to.
I've only just re regoed so I'll drive it for a while before transfering.
I've found from previous experience when I moved to WA for a couple of years that you really need to be there to show them the truck as their interpretations of the laws seem to change from inspector to inspector.
So far I've been told that as long as it passes inspection I should be right.

Mate up here in darwin all vehicles have to pass though the MVR for initial rego to check for chassis and engine number so all can be recorded on their data base. The TAC process is very simple, all they require is for you to send the relevant information regarding your vehicle on the modifications that has been performed. since yours is engineered the process should be even easier. Just make sure you can produce your engineers certificate and relevant documentation and you should be sweet. the TAC council are not engineers, they are the medium man who make the judgment as to weather you need to seek engineer advice or not. As stated earlier since yours is engineered you should have no worries. Also you would surprised as to what they will pass without TAC approval. I have 3 inch lift, 35mm body lift, and 33" road tires and there was no problem. Others have 4 to 6 inch lift, 35" tires and no problems at all. As long as the mods you have performed look professional you should be right.
When you get up here let us know then we can take you out to show you some local tracks.
