Cruiser Sub/dual tank not working?

ayas, i just recently bought a 1992, 75 series cruiser ute. It has dual tanks with the push button on top of the dash with the gauge. I have tried to turn it on and the light goes on to indicate that it's on, but it doesn't seem to be using fuel from the sub tank as the main tank gauge still keeps getting lower and the sub tank gauge doesn't move from full.
any ideas of how to work out what the problem is?
or is there a special way to turn it on, like do i have to slow down to 59kph and hold my right leg in the air and do a chant or something?

you have to get it up to 88MPH and then you will go back in time.
sounds like your doing the correct thing...
conclusion: its busted.
start with the wiring and go from there?

yeah i thought i'd start with the wiring.
not sure if there it's a mechaincal or electric fuel pump , or if the pump is located at the rear tank or does it suck it from the motor end....
i guess i'll find out when i look at it on the weekend.
these new techno fangled things are a bit flash eh, i'm used to just pulling the fuel line of a Sierra motor while starting it and watching the petrol pump out

thier will be a fuel soilernoid to switch between the two tanks just behind the cab just follow the fuel lines from the tank and you will find it, that will be the problem, i had to buy one a while ago, from memory about 300 ish

Yep, should be 2 solenoids, one for supply and one for return.
Start by listening for them clunking as someone else pushes the button, or push the button to select the sub and disconnect each solenoid in turn and see if they are energizing.
If they are, then your problem is likely to be the solenoid internally.
