How long will the Carbon Brushes in a 60Series Starter last

My HJ61 has done around 310,000Km starts OK, but do not want to have to push start in the bush. I realise that the number of Kms do not indicate how many times the starter has been used, but is there any rule of thumb re lifetime of the starter brushes.

My fj62 has done 355000klm and I just replaced starter brushes.Cost $18.00 for the four brushes and took about 15 min to remove starter from car, an hour to replace brushes and make sure magnetic switch contacts are in good condition and 15 min to replace in car.
Easy job and removes the worry of being stranded in the bush.

Yes mate there you have it Stockhorse has put it as simple as it comes, but my advice is to make SURE you disconnect the battery first!! I learned the hard way and arced out the 13mm and it went straight in my eye!!

Thanks for the replies.
Wozza,
As my dad use to say when I was a young lad 50 years ago. Tradesmen don't get hurt doing the job its the DIY's. I helped dad out on weekends during my school days, and he classed me in with the DIY's. He offered to make me a millionaire before I was 30, but I felt it was to bloody hard in the building industry.
