Rear Axle Seal, again?

Hi,

I had a leaking rear axle seal on my 84 4runner. After having seals and bearings replaced less than 5000 k's ago it is leaking again.

I have checked the diff breather and it was resting against something that was holding it closed and I guess this is what caused it.

Does this mean I need to get a new seal pressed in or can I fix it/re-seal it some how?

Any help or ideas would be appreciated

So i take it that diff is still leaking after you unblocked it? if it still leaks i would say its fuck and you need another seal, Im pretty sure your talking about the pinion seal and they are about 6 bucks and pretty simple to replace.

Unblock your breather, clean the leak, if it's still leaking then yes you need a new seal. Sometimes they stop leaking when the breather is cleared, more often not tho.

Put a speedi sleeve on the shaft surface if its ya pinion seal.
Put grease in the seal groove before fitting shaft.
