GPS keeps falling off windscreen

My Tom Tom keeps falling off the windscreen. I've tried cleaning the glass, warming the suction pad, pushing it on until the glass starts to bow out. Whats the trick. My Magellan XL600 sticks fine but not the Tom Tom.

The socket where the power lead goes into it at the bottom is starting to get loose because the lead now stops it from landing on the floor.

Sounds like you need a new suction cup.

Sound gross but spit on it.

My navman wont stick unless I spit on it, then it wont come off when I want it to but atleast it doesnt fall. Nearly lost it out the window once.

Clean windscreen

Leave suction cup in sun in 'open' position (assuming it has a lever like my garmin)

Very light coating of window cleaner on suction cup

Press hard onto windscreen

Try to do it on a warm day (so air under suction cup is less likely to expand much - it'd get hot easily in the sun being sandwiched between a piece of glass and a black rubber disk)

....works for me, though i suppose you've tried all these tricks

one thing i have found with mine, on various windscreens,

my work van for one, in a certain spot it wont stick, and couldnt work out why, until i noticed that there is a very small stone chip, i can only assume that there is a very small amount of air passing through, it takes about 10mins for it to fall off, but if i move it away from that point is fine and will hold for months no probs,

same happens in my 4by as well,

just make sure there are no small stone chips in the vacinity, if there is try a different spot,

Try one of the RAM Mount holders with the suction cap attachment, not cheap but will stay attached to the windscreen.

Araldite the power lead into the back of the GPS so that if it does fall out the window, you can wind it back in.

As suggested, move it around and try a different spot, and then spit on it.

Aluminimum oxide sandpaper and JB weld.

The idea about the aryldite on the cable is also a good one.

We use heavy duty velcro and it is then secured to a specific place on the dash.

With the VE, and cars with steepply raked windscreens placing it on the windscreen means that it is just too far away from the driver and passenger. On the dash is a nice reach. Also the crooks are targetting vehicles for GPS's and even if you take them off the glass and put them in the consol or glovebox the round circle mark left on the glass is a dead give away.

Dashboard velcro could be more discreet.
