Hey Guys,

I searched but couldn't find any info on how to re-index my torsion bars to obtain a little more height. I have run out of adjustment on bolts and have no idea how to re-index the bars....

I want to put smaller bump stops in - anyone know of a suitable replacement? Or will cutting them down be best?

i have a 89 import swb.

Thanks

Jason

wat u need to do with the torsion bar is undo it all the way put heaps od wd40 or anti sieze on the bolt make shaw you support the front end ... and it is just like a axle in the end , grease it up then just move it 1 turn down and see how the goes for you i have dont it to my 90 NG pajero and worked a treat and cut the bump stops is the easy way thats wat i did to mine.. my pajero at the front sits about 7 inchs above the tyre and i have 255/70/16 tyres so they are not small... and have reset leafs at the rear they are 4 inch set above standard.. so all round it is about 4 to 5 inch lifted all round....

ok mate once you have undone the bolt at the rear of the torsion bar (all the way so the bolt drops out and the torsion bar kinda drops a bit), the front of the torsion bar (near the front

wheels) is where the torsion bar pulls out of funnily enough. simply pull the bar out and you will notice there is a white mark at 9'oclock position this is what you index off turn the

bar towards the centre of the car so u turn it downwards if u get my drift either 1 or 2 splices i found 2 splines left the adjusting bar at the rear of the car hung down a little to much

so i would go 1 spline so its flush with the crossmember

hopefully this helps

ps u may have to loosen the cross member that runs half way between the torsion bar in order for u to wiggle it enough

The torsion can come out at either end, but I think only the front has the index mark so becareful or you can easily lose you start point.
If you fit V series wishbones they are 1.5 inches longer allowing more wheel travel and they also allow the ball joint flip
