Hi guys.Just wanted some opinions on anti theft devices.I know if pros want it they will get it but just want to make it a bit harder for joy riders kids etc.I had 2 kill switches on my old TD42 wich i had fitted by an auto sparky and was thinkin goin the same way but have heard that a good alarm immobiliser would be the go.Without going to a great expense what would be the best way to go.

Dynamco/Cyclops alarms come well recommened, available from your local strathfield. Jaycar also have a few DIY kits.

Kill switch (ignition or fuel pump, and alarm cancel switch) into an out of the way area (rear cargo area cubbyhole??). Wire up the conventional alarm to activate when the ignition is switched on (first thing thieves try to do is to jemmy the ignition lock to defeat/autocancel any alarm). Fright of their life if the hear the alarm blasting after supposedly defeating it. High piched Piezo alarms x 4 attached to the alarm output and placed inside the vehicle. They're gone shortly after....
You will nail yourself a few times with this one, but very successfully kept ~$10K of musical instruments safe in my old mans car when working around pubs etc. He heard it go off a couple of times but nothing was ever taken and security video showed a VERY hasty exit.
In essence, think outside the square.

I've installed a few alarms and Mongoose are certainly well made and designed. They're better than the Dynamco's that I've also installed (- I've done a couple of each over the last few years.)
Just make sure whatever you get meets Australian Standards (and don't trust the idiots in the stores who tell you "Brand X" is compliant - check on the internet for yourself
)

Stupid idea: a 150db screamer horn mounted under dash, connected to interior light and alternator output with hidden kill switch mounted internally as well as exterally. (??? just an idea...)

i seen some high output high freq screamers in jaycar a while back and when turned on they hurt your ears and in a car there hard to find as the noise is too loud to pinpoint where its coming from, anyway i vote for the whole they cant steal what they cant see and a car that wont start is too much trouble to try and start in the middle of the night
