Razorback Canopy Warning

I purchased a Steel Razorback Canopy 8 weeks ago for my Hilux, I noticed that at each end of the rear tailgate door that the paint was wearing through to bare metal. I took it back to Roof Rack City in ACT, they will re-adjust the tailgate and put a clear strip seal on the tailgate , then if no further rubbing occurs respray the tailgate and put the seal back on. I can highly recommmend (caveat: at the time of writing) Roof Rack City for trying to fix the problem but totally p*sssed off with Razorback themselves.
I contacted Alastair at Razorback the importer of the canopy he basically didn't want to know anything about it and said it happens to all canopy's and that installers should have put a clear plastic strip across the tailgate, and if I wanted to pursue the matter it was with the manufacturers in Thailand and I would have to deal direct! Needless to say beware buying this product hope I don't get any further problems this guy has an attitude problem, a warning to others comptemplating this canopy.
Does this sort of rubbing occur with other makes of canopy and what do they do to stop it ie: clear strip seal?
