Goodyear Wrangler A/T's

Looking at a new set of A/T tyres for the Rodeo. Had a good run with the last set of Goodyears (MTR's 31x10.5R15, 60k and one flat) but looking at a A/T this time. Looking at either ATR's or Silent Armours (????) in the same size.

I will only be doing limited offroad, with mainly road and a fair amount of unsealed/dirt road duties. The missus had ATR's on her Pajero for a while, but we only had it for about 15,000k after they were fitted (sold it) and it was never offroad in that time. They were pretty good onroad tho.

The Silent Armours seem a bit heavier constructed than the ATRs. The only other 4x4 tyres that i have used were Kumho and Hankook M/T's which both suffered badly on dirt roads, mainly stone punchers through the tread.

Any thoughts?

I'm generally a Coopers fan, but I've read too many bad reports of ATRs having poor traction on wet bitumen. Some people have had no trouble, but wet bitumen is not something I'd like to compromise on.

I haven't read any comparisons lately, but Toyo OPATs used to have a good reputation, and Pirelli A/Ts seemed a good all-rounder too. Bridgestone Desert Duellers seem quite popular in outback SA too.

i ran ATR's on my 80 for 2 years, got around 80 thousand out of them, and still had tread before i went for a set of muddies. i did a lot highway and dirt driving with them and no complaint at all. being in the NT during the wet i had not noticed anything that i would say there was less grip as compared to other tyres. Off road i reckon they were one of the best all terrains in the rocks and shale type areas. the mud did clog them up a fair bit, but the cleaning ability of the tyres was pretty good for an all terrrain.
