Why not upgrade to something that can pull the skin off of old milk?

I don't believe a 1.0 maruti motor will bolt in to a 1.0 sierra. (But I could be wrong) I believe the maruti motor mounts like a 1.3.

There's not really any good alternative to a sierra motor. Even if you source a carry motor (as an example) your still going to want sierra trim to get it in the car - mounts, sump, gearbox etc so it would nly be useful as a core.

I think you'll find that you don't have auto hubs if you have a 1.0 ute - my guess is you have drive flanges- all 1.0 utes came with drum front brakes and drive flanges. These aren't hubs at all, and they're unbreakable - the stub axle will go first - but they mean the whole front end is turning the whole time. If your front driveshaft is anything like mine, over about 60 kph you'll have some "noticeable :D" vibration.

Auto hubs were an option on WT sierras but I've never seen them in Australia.

If they specificially say "auto freewheeling hub" or similar on them they've been swapped in from a 2.0 V6 vitara - the only car I can think of that had them in australia, and pull them off and put normal sierra hubs on ASAP - they're trouble prone.

ok thanks there drive flanges not auto hubs are all 1lt frunt diffs drum brakes and if i swap the frunt diff (to Manuel lockinghubs) and front driveshaft do you think this will fix the vibration

Yep, sure will.

There's a few of us chasing those flanges though.

probly should be in the maruti thread but the maruti engine mounts are not the same as 1.3 (on mine anyway) they look every bit like the 1lt mounts but have 10mm bolts instead of 8mm and only have 2 bolt holes per side not 3

:?I've looked at a fair few 1.0l utes, all of them have had front drum brakes, but I haven't seen one yet with drive flanges, all have had OEM manual free wheeling hubs. :?

;) Technically neither are the free wheeling hub mechanisms that are being referred to in this thread. :P

can confirm that maruti mounts dont suit 1.3 they are a 1 litre mount...the 1.3 bolts in lower and a bit forward to the 1.0...christover did a good thread on 1.3 to 1.0 a while back he did it with a plate im doing it the same look here

heres his build up if your thinking 1.3 to 1.0
