1fzfe air flow meter

hey all all a sudden the air flow meter in my 80 shit it self i have to hold it open with my finger for it to run any ideas?? cause when it closes the fuel stops running

The flow meter does control the circuit opening relay..do u know anyone with an early 4.5 you can use their meter to prove its that??? sounds like a dud meter...theres one on ebay now but its for a 3fe...will be different...
