"Slime" Tyre sealant, Does it work? I was in the Super Cheap shop yesterday and was checking out inflaters and tyre repair kits when i saw the "Slime" is this worth having for those emergency moments on the side of the road. will this stuff hold? who's used it successfully. I'm thinking I'll buy some if it actually works.

hi mate
its good if the hole is not to big, or you have a leaky valve st the base ( they break/rip/perish.
best thing you can carry is teh plug repair kit and a compressor and a bottle of that stuff in case the problem is not on the tyre itself...

If you use any of this type of stuff in your tyres, especially the aerosol types, and you end up getting the tyre fixed, warn the tyre guy about it first. They would prefer you not use it, it makes their job more difficult.

It works quite well.
But only use it on stuff like wheel barrows, pushbikes etc.
It works by partially dissolving some of the surface of the tyre rubber, and makes patching a tyre extremely difficult. So I personally would recommend NEVER use it in car or truck tyres.
It may also void warranty on your tyres.

I have used it on push bikes and it works well but for a car I think the ARB kits are better for emergency repairs. On a bike it put the tyre waaaay out of balance, not sure if it would be as noticible on a car.

I use it on my ride on mowers tyres.
I would not use it on my 4x4's tyres ... as you end up with slime everywhere when you air down.

I've used the ARB kit for years (mines acutally older than that - Its the old read safety seal kit ARB used to sell before they badged it there own)
It works perfectly. Ironically, I don't htink I've ever done a 4WD tyre with it, but I've done lots of car tyres - the last one only last week. Lasts the life of the tyre AFAIK.

It worked a charm on my old bike tyres, but as others have said I wouldn't use it on a car.
