Outer Limits 4x4 Board

just got my new rancho shocks, found the boot to be near impossible to get on but figure some hot water will sort that problem out.

my main issue is that they come with 1 cable tie each which i pressume are for the bottom of the boot, so exactly how well does the top of the boots seal against water, mud, dirt etc?

or is there a little trick to seal them up properly i.e. sikaflex?

please dont tell me they are gunna be a pain in the butt and keep sliding down!

Your right with the cable tie mate. As for sealing them up, i've done bugga all!! If water still managed to get in after you sealed it, it would be hard for it to get out, which could also be a bugga!!

thanks cob, i was only thinking about sealing the top (i shouldve mentioned that) but if theres no issues with the top of the boot playing funny buggas i guess theres no need...

I dont think so. Has anyone else had bad experiences?? On full compression of my suspension, theres only about 10mm of uptravel left on the shock in that pic. The boot has never came off or anything. Where the cable tie goes around the boot, theres 2 little slots. If you keep those slots above the white part of the shock, the water will run straight out anyways

that looks fine. There's a bit of metal that's under the eye that holds the boot on. The boot is very flexible. I bought 2 spare boots on the cheap 'just in case' but after 4 years they're still on.

Hey sorry cant help ya but maybe u can help me, i bought a set of rs9000's second hand and i dont know much bout shocks but these buggers dont bounce bak after you compress them they stay wherever ya put them, is this normal or hav i been jibbed?

There are holes in the boots to let air out when they compress, these boots are only to protect them from flying rocks etc. mud will always get in there , if you seal them they will pop of everytime they compress as the air has to get out. cheers.....
