Outer Limits 4x4 Board

My mate brought his 2.4TD Jap import Surf round tonight.

It has the usual big viscous cooling fan on the motor like normal, but he also has a smaller elec fan on the other side of the rad. Its looked like a factory fit thing.

Wassit do? Hes never had it come on at all, its up against the main rad, so its not for the air-con, its a manual gearbox so has no rad for autobox fluid.

Its was dark so could'nt have a good poke around.

None of the official UK 4Runners have this fan, petrol or diesel.

any ideas??????

Mine had the xtra fan but it was for a/c. Has the truck got a/c ??

Yup, we though of that, but it looked like the air-con rad is on the lower right hand side of the rad, this fan is on the left (from the front)

But it was hard to see in the dark, so not 100% sure, its all I could think the fan was for.....
