recycling ideas

I've got a couple of handy devices i use for the fourby from recycled stuff.
1) 12V drill
I had a crapped out battery on my el cheapo GMC 14.4V cordless drill. So i ripped the guts out of it and connected a couple of 4mm wires with alligator clips to the terminals.
Now it's a handy 12V drill that can be attached to car battery for all sorts of bush repairs. I can still use the other battery at home as a functional cordless drill.
2) Battery jumper cables
I had a set of heavy duty Hella jumper cables, but i wanted to move my winch solenoids to inside the engine bay. So i cut them to desired length, crimped larged terminals to ends and wired it all up.
Then i was left with some very short and pretty much useless jumper cables. I've also had about 18m of welding lead laying around for years. So i cut it in half and crimped each end to the heavy duty hella alligator clips and now i have an awesome set of 9m long heavy duty jumper cables for when your stuck in those tricky situations.
3) 12V oil syphon pump
My in-tank fuel pump had given up on life and wasn't pumping adequate fuel pressure, so i replaced it. As ther was still some life left in the old pump i've placed it in a container with a length of hose from manual siphon pump, and wiring with alligator clips to car battery.
Servicing the 4by is no longer such a PITA. No more hand pumping to fill diffs, gearbox and tranny. Electric pump sucks the oil up no worries and makes light work of a prick of a job.
