Outer Limits 4x4 Board

im looking at running 35inch coopter stts in a 15x8inch steel wheel on a GU Cab chassis

im looking at a 3 inch suspension lift with a 1to2 inch body lift... am i on the right path?


also im looking at getting some big bore tough dog shockies.

im trying to get away without drop arms if i can, so would radius bushes be sufficient with this kinda of lift?


what kits should i look at?

2" kit should be enough, from what I've read on many posts about this lately.

I have a cab chassis with 3" lift and run 36" simex's without any problems. The only mod is radius arm spacers and removing the mud flaps.

I dont have any castor correction but could do with 3 degree bushes. Wouldnt bother with new arms or drop boxes.

i run 35 MTZs with a 3" suspension only. Seems to rub a bit on full lock. Ive taken off mud flaps, what should i do to get a bit more clearance?

i have a gu ute with a 4/5inch efs kit in it and very happy with. i run 315/75/16 mtrs on cruiser offset with no scubing. just put in the control arm spacers as 37s are going under it. you can run castor plates until you want to upgrade to some sort of drop arms or the like. don't bother with a body lift.
i would steer clear of the tough dogs. Had 2 sets of them under my wagon and don't rate them compared to the efs extremes

Depending on how much flex in the front end you want, you could run castor bushes but this does limit flex, if you want to do it on the cheap id get caster plates (you will get more flex out of these). Or you can run 4" sus lift with drop boxes which are better than all the above!
Or just spend the cash now and get the full kit so your not buying crap that you'll replace when you want to upgrade in 2 months!

Running 16" rims and simex ET2's.

From what I have read 15" rims will fit GU's (xcept 4.8's) with minimal caliper clearance though.

Forget the body lift. 3 inch is more than enough on a GU to run 35s. With radius arm spacers you will run 36 to 37 inch tyres with a 3 inch lift without touching your guards.

Forget the Toughdogs. In my opinion you can get much better quality for less. As others have suggested, talk to Shane (4wd stuff) about a good shock and coil combo.

If you don't want to spend the money on drop arms or drop boxes then go the offset radius arm bushes and remove a bolt when offroad and you'll have all the flex you want.

i think ill give the body lift a miss.

and after a little more reseach i think im going to order the 16" steelies instead of the 15s..

now i have been told by numerous amounts of people that toughdogs are "supposedly" the best shocks money can buy.

but im inpartial to any brand really as long as they do the job.

i wouldnt mind getting drop boxes, however i was told that for a 3inch lift that the caster angle would be too much as opposed to not enough caster.

i though drop boxes were suited to a 4" kit.

also which bolt is this that you speak of that gives you infinite drop?

As I said in the other thread, I don't suggest you do this on the road and you do it at your own risk, but plenty of people have wheeled like this for years with good results.
