if u run a std snorkle on a carbied car you will have to increace your gas mix, as the pressureised air will blow most of the gas out of the carbie, unless you run the head backwards then its fine, i made an adaptor (duct tape) to fit ss tube to the square tube on the airbox intake :D

G'day,

Thought I would ask in here instead of starting another topic.

I'm about to put gas on my GQ, but planning on a Snorkle shortly also.

I have read alot about you need to have a breather hose ect and get it retuned if putting a snorkle on with gas.

Now would it be easier/wiser to put the snorkle on before I get the conversion done??

And would the shop tune it properly?? Or would they have to do mods to the airbox ect??

I guess what Im wondering is, if a shop will do a gas conversion with a snorkle on?? Saving me having to get it retuned later one.

Any help would be great, thanks a heap in advance ;)

All you need is a reasonable size balance line from the converter atmospheric port to the air intake duct and then tuning, not fitting a balance line and richening the mixtures is not satisfactory as the mixture will be much richer at 60 kph than 100 kph.

It probably does not matter if you put the snorkel on before or after the gas install, in my experience gas installers dont tune the engine correctly, all they do is get if running and idling and then sugest that you get it dynoed.
At least if you fit the snorkel after then you know it wont be chopped to fit the gas and will be water tight.
