When I purchsed the GQ about 2 months ago it came with an Airod LPG system. I couldnt get it to tune properly. The best economy I could get was about 26l/100km and averaged about 33l/100km. It also stammered and would wouldnt rev out. I decided to rip it all out and fabricate an Impco 425 to fit. This is not my daily driver so I was in no hurry to get it back on the road. I bought an EFI manifold and all the other parts I needed and then fitted it all up. I spent lots of time with the Mig welder making brackets and manifolds. The difference it amazing. I cant believe the power increase. The engine even sounds sweeter. I have only driven it about 80km so havent been able to check economy but it seems better already. :P
I still have pertronix to fit and then I will run it into the dyno tuner to get the best out of it.

Looks like a nice install, only thing is the 425 is designed to be stood up, the air valve will become sticky on the body causing possible flat spots, stalling and erratic idle....It'll probably take a number of years to get to that stage though. One reason I like the Gasresearch Carbies on these.

Cheers

I only use the GQ for weekend trips. Its not my daily driver so it will take a long time before any problems come from it and by that time I will have upgraded to a GU! I looked at Gas Research and decided to go with Impco on advice from my mechanic.

yeah well done man, looks neat as.
It will be interesting to see the difference, although you changed the manifold and the type of system at the same time :)
