Outer Limits 4x4 Board

A mate has a Nissan GTiR Pulsar 4WD and is needing some better CV's. I was wondering if Haultech or maybe somewhere closer to home (Rockhampton) can heat treat them and would it be worthwhile? They seem to work well in 4by's.

heat treated CV's sacrifice hardness for toughness. they will not last in a constant drive application. they can withstand massive loads, but not constant wear. Factory CV's are very hard, so they last a long time, but that makes them brittle, so they snap when shock loaded.

the factory CV's are pretty good on a GTiR, the gearbox usually gives up long before! There are probably aftermarket options for bigger/stronger CV's for that application.

Hehehe we are putting a new set of gears in it so we are now looking at what will break next. We will try and source some aftermarket CV's and hope they aren't too expensive the gears were $6k.

Yeah, I agree with dumbdunce. You will do more gearboxes than you will ever do cv's.

A mate of mine used to have a GTiR-B and he never did any CV's. Made the close ratio gearbox self destruct though.
