There is a kit available to fit the variable vane turbo from the HS2.8. There are pics floating round on AULRO.

pm sent.

Because the turbine housing is part of the exhaust manifold, you need another manifold to fit an aftermarket turbo.

There is a place that use a mitsubishi turbo and manifold for the 300Tdi - kit was $2400, may be more now.

If you could get a 200Tdi manifold, you could adapt other turbos.

If you want to rebuild it yourself, a rebuild kit from Ebay (T2/T25 Garrett) will cost you under $100 on your doorstep.

It takes a couple of hours if you're slow and it's not a difficult job either.

all i need now is a metal head gesket as the stock one wont handle the boost
Has anyone oringed the cyl head on the 300 tdi?

Given the engine hasn't had a bad overheating episode and both head and deck are flat. I would use a new set of head bolts, lubricate the threads and under the bolt head with moly grease then over tighten them a little. Also better if you use more, smaller tightening sequences to get to the final tension.

And just because they are tightened using a part turn method, does not mean that they are already tightened to yield as many people assume.

I have heard that full metal gaskets are available now, but have not seen them personally. They should withstand the pressure better than the composite gaskets.

put the reco hi flo on tonight wow my old turbo must have been r00ted
i refit the old boost controller on the setting it was at on my old turbo (17psi) she went straight to 25psi  pulled over quick smart she is now set at 17.5 pounds and goes like a rocked and egt max at 620 lugging up a massive hill
but at 25 psi it was breaking traction  don't think it would last long at that boost setting :D might leave that till its time for an engine conversion

if any 1 ever needs their turbo rebuilt contact precision turbochargers at wetherill park on02 97565757
a full kit and hi flow inc machining was 630 delivered to my door

mate not 100% sure in the end as we tried 4 different wheels it ended up being a large t25 wheel and a few sizes larger if that helps
he tried a huge one but it ended up having way to much lag on the test bench so went 1 down and it is sweet
2000rpm she starts boosting and is at full boost by 2100
all in all im very happy with the result
my old turbo used to start boosting at 1800 and reach full boost by 2000
and sounded like it was doing eleventy billion rpm whereas this seems to be a lot better exhaust temps are lucky to reach 600 now where i was peaking 740 before with intercooler water misters
all in all i would recommend the service to any1
we should have an outerlimits good service thread :D
