Piranha Super Loom, anyone used one in there 60? It would be $252 + postage.

Do they make that much difference?

I'm not the worlds best electrician, but from the brochure they sent me and the pic of the loom I could buy the parts separate, buy a soldering iron and do it for alot less.

Thoughts?

Hey Joel, I upgraded mine using this as a guide; http://www.ih8mud.com/tech/headlightharness.php

This is for a later model with twin headlights, so ignore all the wiring for H1.

I did this and also changed my globes to 90/100. Headlighst are heaps better now.

Someone told me that by using the Piranha loom that when you switch to high beam both the high and low beam are powered - something to do with them not catering for the negative switching used in Toyotas.

I put one of these in my 95 80 series they have a circuit completer to allow High beam indicator lamp to function as a result of Toyotas negative switching. I would not recommend them tho I would use ARB as mine melted and nearly burnt the car down I was lucky I smelt the fumes before it got hold. The reason for this was a serious design fault and very nasty (cheaply) manufactured light box for the circuit completer. On a positive note they did replace it with a better designed unit but once bitten.
Cheers Zack

I highly recommend the Piranha superlooms and unlike "zackde" I have never had any problems with the quality of their equipment.
We fitted two 60series with the superlooms (one a Piranha and the other a copy, but both with piranha circuit completers) and recently two 80series.
The 60 will also benefit from a good quality globe and try IPF inserts with this upgrade.
