right so the 33" bit isn't the problem it is probably the 12.5" bit that is. Sell them and get 33 x 10.50s.jkenny wrote:cheers guys i am just tryin 2 find out because i got pulled over the other day and the cop reckons that the wheel track is to wide and i am just tryin 2 find out wat 2 do as my car is now defective
cheers
Is there actually a max for tyre width? As I thought it was a limit to an 8" wide rim. Which 99% of tyre manufactures spec a 33x12.50R15 tyre on a 15x8.5 rim. So you cant run them.grimbo wrote:right so the 33" bit isn't the problem it is probably the 12.5" bit that is. Or maybe you could find out exactly what the policeman gave you the defect for and then ring the authourities and find out what you can and can't do for your vehicle
gee, thats going back some years too!!turps wrote:Apparently some engineers had letters from BFG and Cooper maybe, saying there 12.50" wide tyres could be fitted to 8" rims..
I'd imagine it was proabably because the tyres stuck out past the flares indicating the width of the vehicle had changedturps wrote:Is there actually a max for tyre width? The increase in wheel track due to the tyres I thought was fine, if with toyota offset rims.
darren tried to get 16x10s engineered on his troopy yrs back, and it came down to he had prove they came out on a similar model o/s or something like that.. he gave up.grimbo wrote:I'd imagine it was proabably because the tyres stuck out past the flares indicating the width of the vehicle had changed
