i currently own a 1998 75 series ute with a page full of mods but sadly a stock motor still,
as i am planning a year long trip around the country in january i have been looking into improving my power/fuel economy.
go the turbo or go the sticks and a 2 1/2 system???
is the turbo worth the money?
the motor has a 255000 on it, this should not be an issue for the turbo option?
a bit of insight would be great cheers

turbo
i bought extractors for my 80 but decided stuff it and i'm going to turbo
the cost of a full exhaust/extractors is a sizeable chunk of a turbo kit anyway

I had gennie extractors and a full system on my 75 series and now ive put a denco kit on an there full exhaust system and its the best thing ive ever done, running 8.5 psi boost and keeping the egt under 550C, no issues at all with 350000km on it

go both.
I just recently put a 3" exhaust on my turbo 80 series, with 4" dump pipe to transfer case. the upgraded exhaust made a big difference in performance. turbo spools up fast! definitely worthwhile

my question is...
If mechanics say you can put a turbo on anywhere up to 300,000kms why do they limit it there? To me it sounds like it would just cause extra wear on the engine. How many kms has yours done?
If an exhaust was put on, would that put similar strain on the engine or would it be a hell of a lot easier on it?!
