I put 2.5" exhaust and Extractors on my old TB42 dual Fuel
Gave it more power, in fact when i swapped over to the Extractors and exhaust i also swapped over to 33" tires, when i drove it home the first day with the 33's and the new exhaust it felt like it had 31's on it, took off like a rocket, and the same pulling power up hills as the 31's did.
As for the note, mate ever time i had it at cruise on the Freeway's it gave me a Woodie, it had a perfect note, and when decelerating off the Freeway it made made a sweet gurgle noise, on LPG that is, it was brilliant.
It cost me in total for the Extractors and Exhaust $600
Yep Carline Mufflers at Woy Woy (NSW Central Coast boy here)
when I back off the gas or stop at the light it take a few seconds for the revs to drop down to idle, that it normal??
This a Gas or Petrol or both engine? it should drop at a steady rate, but shouldn't take too long to return to idle. On gas it can take a little bit more since its sucking gas in even as it decelerates. On gas when you decelerate you get more popping though the exhaust due to it eating more gas under deceleration.
Looking at a pertronix ignition too
Not my personal favorite but it will do. I used the Crane Cam Fireball XR700 in mine. Optical sensor pickup. Yes it does have an external box but i put mine in a clear plastic case from Jaycar and plumbed air lines so that the engine was drawing air though the box from the air inlet, keeps it cool and dry. Had bad experience with petronics blowing up on me and a mate, back to point to get it running again. and if the box on the Fireball dies, its just a matter of unpluging the wires that come from the dizzy to the box and replacing it (i had mine installed for 4 years and never had a problem with it) Gave me heaps more power and a better advance, With 35's on i was able to out accelerate a standard GU 4.5 off the mark and going up hills i was able to beat him no worries.
Yes the sound will be different, its a larger pipe. but if it gives you a woody, well
You would have heard one theres 1000's out there with extractors and 2.5-3inch pipes
How much more power - that depends on what expectations you go in with... Some tend to say they get mega KW out of it.
Others say it makes more noise so feels like it goes better...
SO if you go into it expecting more noise, and little power you will be happier.
Ps. Save your bux for a turbo. Some on here have done it for round a grand and you WILL have a woody.
(The mrs 90 model maverick wagon)
Just fitted a 2 1/2 system from first flange under passenger front seat back
Made a bit of difference to the torque an also sounds a lot better
Also running pertronix ignition an flamethrower coil , been on car for 18mths now an had no problems ,although i still carry points an original coil in the car just to be on the safe side.
Pacemaker extractors with a custom 2 1/4 sports system. $900. Big difference in the rev range from 2500-3000 onwards. TB42 with auto. Noise will somewhat depend on what, if any, muffler is in the system etc.

totally agree!
wait till your screaming down the highway doing 2500 grand with no mufflers...can forget about talking or even listening to the radio for that matter! Get ya self some good ear muffs
