404 mog diffs + 6litre V8 + 40" tyres will they hold up

Post by ausyota »

Im planning on dropping a 6 litre L98 motor into my Lux and the plan is to (eventually) run Unimog 404 diffs with 40" boots.
Will the diffs hold up to my right foot? :D

I think you should be worrying about the t-case holding up before the diffs.

Depends on the history of the axles, but if you run an auto trans you shouldn't be able to kill them.

What t/case?

Yeah will be behind an auto.
Havnt decided on a case yet. It would be nice to have an Atlas but Im not sure if I can stretch the budget that far.

Just don't use a 5:1 Atlas or something way out like that, you'll have plenty enough torque to smash portals if you do

Yeah I dont think I would be going quiet that low in the gearing especialy with the reduction from the portals it would take me half an hour to move a metre :)
