Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Hello all.

I am currently putting my 91WT Sierra back together, and have a question regarding the transfer mounting block options.... My set-up is TG 6.5's, a 'Roctoy Ring' with re-enforced standard zook mounts, a rear mini-spool, front lockright and 31's.

My question is about these:

1) Has anyone run these? Any good?

2) Are they a bad idea (i.e. - does it cause extra vibration? And IS the fact that there is now no 'weak point' (i.e. "mechanical fuse" - if you like) in the drive line a bad thing? etc....)

3) What have you done?

Personally I wouldn't be keen on hard mounting the transfer, especially with the lack of strength in the passenger side chassis bracket. I'm all up for increased strength and a through bolt is an option but would prefer a compliant material used. With a through bolt you require 3 rubbers (or similar)one above the transfer bracket and one below the chaasis bracket

I have a solid mount similar in my passenger side and two nylon mounts in drivers side all bolted through with 6.5 on 32's
its all still in there and intact. no more vibes than i remember but less weird knocks like this though.
I run a rockyroad transfer arm on the drivers side and a beefed up lhs mount.

How much do you want them for? I have a set here that were sent to me by accident you can have for next to nothing plus postage.

i think the go is a mount/cradle that doesn't allow the case to flex, but is used with stock mounts that will act as the fuse, so to speak...

Geez pez you're going gangbusters on your build! sounds like its turning into a capable little 4by!

I'll be mounting my transfer with some through bolt urethane mounts into a mighty kong transfer cradle...eventually. Its sitting on spidertrax mounts at the moment but if i"m solid mounting it the mighty kong will give me more security on case flex and adds a bashplate to the bottom.

solid mounts are a bad idea unless you have a heavy duty bracket to mount them. they have a bad habbit of cracking the brackets.

I have 6.5: gears in my transfer and its mounted in a Spidertrax setup.

It is mounted on three 'ROCK 4X' poly mounts. They are rock hard.

I have crash landed the whole weight of the car on the transfer and broken one mount but have had no trouble since.
I didn't notice any extra vibration when I changed from the original rubbers to these.

Heres what i did... i used some tonka tough rubber. Its similar strength to a suspension bush. I've got one on the top, aswell as the two you can see in the pic. Now, if im in forwards it will stretch the top and the bottom rubbers, and when im in reverse it will compress the middle rubber. (think thats the way the transfer spins!!) So instead of all of this load being on the 1 piss weak standard rubber mount, it now goes through the 3 tonka tough mounts! I just had to put high tensile bolts through them all though, cause it kept bending the non high tensile ones!!

I am getting the solid mounts off GRPABT1, as either way I need new mounts to get the car mobile again. Once it's mobile I will be taking it down to my Dads place one weekend to weld up the Roctoy Ring, re-enforce the stock brackets AND sort out the mounts. (Booty-fab city )

'get it up there' - I really like what you have done with your mounts (I still have the email you sent me a while ago on this topic too - cheers!). So, my plan is to fit the Solid mounts temporarily to get me back on the bitumen, then go and sort it all out properly so I can hit the bush with a bit of confidence in the strength department...
