Component Advice - 3" Suspension Lift - GQ

Ok, ive called a few guys round town (Redlands 4x4, Extreme 4x4), and have been given a few different opinions. BTW this is for a GQ

1) 3" lift , Rancho's, panard rods, caster plates (cut and welded), all the shit

2) 3" Lift, EFS Shocks ???, no panards, no caster adjustment

One mob's telling me I need this extra stuff to keep the diff centered, and caster to keep things drivable, and the other says I dont need either, and it will be just as driveable and when it went in.

Can anyone help me out, im a little confused now. I 'really' need this rig to be just as easy to drive as when it wasnt lifted.

Also I havent heard of EFS ? Is anyone else using it ?

Thanks again for you help lads :)

I had Cheezy racing put a 3" lift into my GQ LWB last August. All that went in was new Dobinson springs and shocks. Castor didn't need correcting as 3" was in the parameters of maintaining stock setup. I use my GQ as a daily driver about 80km a day plus has been used on trips to Mungo NP over heavy corrugations and a few weekend trips etc to the high country. It handles fine, no strange steering and only a bit of noticeable body roll.

castor will be fine as long as all your steering gear is in good nick

Dont really need panhard bars for a 3 inch lift..

Castor correction BUSHES - aye.. but ive heard some people say that they limit wheel travel as they are too wound up- thou ive heard the ARB ones are pretty alright.

Ill be selling my 3 inch dobinsion springs and shock setup soon as ill be going 5 ;)

We fit quite a few 3" Spring lifts, yes I would recommend caster bushes, but not panhards. A good shock to match the 3" Dobinson in the long travel OME's now available. The OME will allow the spring to work well, but not fall out.
