80/ 100 series t case parts interchangeable?

Have 1 part time 80 series transfer case with large input shaft hole (from auto), and a full time 105 series transfer case with the small input shaft hole (from r151 box).
Can I combine the two to make a part time case with the small input shaft hole?

don't all 80 series transfers have the same input shaft spline??
do you have a couple of pictures to show what you mean?

ok that makes more sense
I think so. pretty sure the input gear is the same for all. I think it would be easier (and probably end up cheaper) to find a H150/1 from a an 80 and bin the R151F, then your transfer from the 80 will bolt on without modification and you have a heavy duty gearbox to boot.
was there ever a part time/auto combination in 80 series? aren't all DX/Standards manuals and all RV/GXL and higher all full time 4WD??

Thanks for reply dumdunce. The box and transfer are going into a hilux with 80 diffs.

No idea... I originally purchased auto with v/c transfer case, then the part time transfer later. The 80 auto was too much hassle to squeeze under the lux.

ok, it begins to make more sense
I think it will work. those transfers aren't too hard to get apart, tear into them and see.
is there any reason you don't want to use hilux transfer(s) to get better/lower ratios? the offset of an 80 rear isn't heaps, if your rear shaft is fairly long it shouldn't have angle issues.

Gday
The only difference between the two is that spline, the gear on the input shaft is thesame, therefore you can swap the 80 auto input into the r transfer...

Cheers, thought you would pipe in eventually dow50r.

The 105 gearbox supposedly stronger than earlier r type boxs. The 80/ 100 transfer strongest Toyota item made. I found the whole 105 box and transfer quite cheap. I'll worry about the gearing when I get there. Hilux transfer would cost more $ to adapt to r151.

I have heard the R151 isn't a very strong box at all, I am currently looking for an 80 series box to put in my 105 cause I am installing a 1HDT, btw the R151 box has a finer spline on it (clutch end) than the 80 series, I had to use the small 1HZ clutch for the 1HDT.

Yeah I said 105 box is strongest of the r series (supposedly). Marginal strength for Cruiser, OK strength for Hilux.

you can use the HD clutch with an isuzu 12" clutch plate to get the 12" clutch.

Oooh nice info thanks dumbdance, any Isuzu 12" clutch or a specific model?

I have a part number here somewhere... We get them out of N and I think F series at work, must suit a few different models.

lux geardriven transfer (or 2) can be mated to the R series using a V6 adaptor plate from locktup4x4. The R boxes, R150, 151, 154 etc are all basically the same strength no matter which vehicle they are in, ratios are the only difference.
