LRA GQpatrol trans to LT230 conversion

Post by Woop »

Has anyone here got one of these LRA conversions? Does it use the Patrol bellhousing or a custom type? And what about the adaptor to the engine. Does it use an adaptor ring or something similar?

I had a Marks kit in a Series 3 behind an ED33 diesel, using a Series transfer. It was awesome. The box wasnt quite the same a GQ box but close enough (first was a bit lower).

In my view, the GQ 5 speed (as found behind TD/TB42's is the one of the best gearboxs ever fitted to a production 4x4. They are getting cheap now also..... I suspect there could be tunnel clearance issues due to the larger size of the box.

I've got a gq to lt 230 set up in the shed . It is a gq bellhousing with a adapter ring to the engine.

I believe you need a 2 to 2 1/2 inch body lift to make it fit under the floor.

Cheers
