Cracked Chassis

Just discovered that the chassis is cracked, is it worth welding up or will it crack again,not real keen on changing it

it can be repaired !!!
do a search , there was a write up about a GU , with the same prob !!!!!

be prepared for the $$$$$ quote !!!!! :shock:

It cost me $300 to get one weld done on the chassis of my Hilux way back then.

Fark, how did u do that? :? I've done two Simpson crossing and cape york and never seen that before. I feel sorry for ya. Hope it pans out OK.

i was gonna ask the same thing, but wanted someone else to ask first. I cant identify the crack. Looks like a GQ?

If its near the steering box it is a comin thing on Patrols.i no of about 5 to 6 patrols that have cracked behind the steering box were the panard rod mount is....it will get real bad vidration when driving.most of the time you would hardly even notice it is even cracked....that one shore stands out...F 100s had the same problem with yhe chassis cracking behind the steering box....

Darren,

My '89 cracked in exactly the same spot. From the looks of it, yours has the stiffening bracket there as well so maybe a simmilar vintage... Remove one end of the panard rod and stiffening bracket and re-weld. Make sure when winching,snatching the the load is spread properly over the two chassis rails..

Which model did Nissan rectify the cracking chassis problem or is it common through out.
Is there anyway to prevent it by stengthening it, anyone done it already with pics???????????????

Had someone look at it yesterday says it is repairable, we will weld and plate it and see how we go
