Power window mechanisms-GQ or cruiser

I got a pair of these power window motors from a GQ and as they're more compact than the cuiser ones, I'm going to try and modify them to mount some roof lights onto. So at the flick of a switch I can put them up and down as I want.

What I need to know is.....
A/ if i mount one of these each side, will it be stong enough to get 4 spotties up and down..... and,

B/ how do these motors know when it needs to stop(ie window fully up or down). I know that they are a reverse polarity motor, + & - it goes up, then - & + it goes down. I've tested this but the motor just keeps going without stopping.

If this fails to work, I'll try the landcruiser ones.... although they are alot more bulky to mount.

Cheers.

Dunno about window motors but windscreen wiper motors have sliding contacts that change the connections depending on whether the wipers are turned on and whether they are parked or not.

But I would probably be looking more for a worm drive or a piston of some kind, basically a shaft rather than a motor, to do this job, using a lever action. You could use a microswitch to control the stopping point but remember they need to be held really firmly in position or they will point all over the place, not as easy as you might think. Maybe you could look at some cars with pop-up headlights or similar and raid those mechanisms at a wrecker.
