lux diff question.

Hey i was just wondering if all hilux rear diffs were the same, as in deisel and petrol.
just asking for a mate of mine

They all interchange into the housings.
But the pettys and the oilers have different ratios.
Also the V6 has a heavier carrier with more gusseting and bigger pinion bearings.

does the physical size of crown wheels change much between ratios. ie 4.88 and 4.3???

as far as im awere all the diff heads interchange front and rear from the very early hilux up to the ln106 and ln130 ifs front diffs not included there different. my beam axel surf had factory 4.3 diffs front an rear i put a 4.8 out of an ln65 hilux in the rear and a 4.8 our of the back of a old lh65 hiace in the front hope this helped

they all have 8inch crown wheel if u look on the chassis tag there will be a trans axel code that will be something like
G144
the letter is the size of the crown whell
the next 2 numbers are the ratio
the last number is the number of pins and lsd or open

ok
i do realise they will fit in the same hole but i just got a new diff that im setting up and i want to clearance the center of the pumpkin as much as i can. i want to run my 4.88 ratio but they are still in use. i got a 4.3 but not sure if i cut out to suit 4.3, will 4.88 hit??

the diff centre out the back of the hiace is it an lsd centre or open centre

im not sure of the exact modle this diff came out of it my of been a yh61
