yeah just that i lifted the tosion bars and rear leafes, running 31s and it doesnt seem 2 be that high and flex much, so im getting hilux diffs next week and running a fully different leafe spring set up using a soa and square tubing to connect to the shackles 2 drop away from the chassis to flex more, will be looking at 36inch tyres front and rear lokkas, soa, custom front bar and rear tray, bonnet scoop, lightforce 240s custom interia and racing buckets lol should be a bit different than the ol hilux

Will be good to see...
Will be a lot of time, effort and money involved project...
Im not againest your idea, but any reason why you just dont buy a lux?
Wouldnt you save a heap on the SAS if you just bought a Solid Axle Vehicle?
Apart from that, you have some balls taking on a project like that

yeah i thort about a hilux but for the money im gonna sell the triton for its not worth it coz i just put a new motor in the ol girl, also im getting the diffs for free of a mate so all i need is steering diff centres and a front drive shaft, also all i need to do to the triton is remove the ifs and weld to spring hangers on to mount the front diff, hook up all the steering, run extended brake lines and bolt front drive ahft up, then for the bak ill put a hilux rear diff to bolt straigh in and hook up drive shaft and brakes, im plaaning on getting the diffs all ready to go 2 just weld straigh in in under a week, sounds like fun ayy, ill post pics of my new front custom bar tonit sum time

My 2 cents...
For the front, use rear hilux springs with a load leaf removed for best articulation. This is a well proven way of getting leaves to work well.
If you were going to get carried away and do the rear also - put some nice long ones like the ones out of a Falcon panel van, once again well proven setup that will just about out flex coils.
Doing this conversion on a Surf at the moment.

You will have little to no crawling ability on 36's without changing the diff gears drastically. Would be a cool project to tinker around with, but I think you make it out to be easier than it actually is. The tojo's sas conversion is relatively straight forward, zook to tojo is harder, and mitsu to tojo will probably take the icing.
But good luck with it!

Just a question with the conversion, does the triton have its diff centre on teh drivers side like a hilux or on the passenger side like its counterpart the pajero???

And fuel economy will be woeful, driving up hills on bitumen is going to be frustrating, crawler gears in the transfer are going to be a must in the bush - the triton top box is geared high in 1st and reverse...

Passenger side mate...[/b]

passenger side so i gotta reverse the diff and rotate the diff centre and drill a hole for the drain plug, then run the diff hat arounfd the right way, lol

Mate it sounds really great in theory and I can't wait to see it finished, but I really do hope you know what your in for. I'm now a week into a commo v6 auto swap. It was meant to be in for exhaust 3 days ago, only just got there today and its still not running yet! Another day or two with wiring after it comes back and hopefully all will be well. GOOD LUCK!

x2, but I will add a bit of sutblety as well
Think about it.
What size tyres comes on a zuk?
What size engines come in a zuk?
Now - Do they vary from what you are running? I think so!!
Get some more 4WD experience, look at this Triton for example of what can be done without even changing the front suspension
So, get some 33's, get a locker of some sort and go 4WDing!!!!!

No i am an extrovert paedophile who chases after young boys who drive tritons. Correction, you can't drive cos your still on your 'L's
...
Yes and no your sources are misinformed, you will still find me posting on p4x4.

Seriously I'd get some experience under your belt before talking SAS.
IMHO a SOA SAS is a total waste of time and $$$$ coils are the only way to go.
If you really want SOA get an old Hilux and drop a V8 in it will be much cheaper than what your proposing.
Body lift, 33"s, locker or two, crawler gears and you won't need much more.

tehehehe new sig line here we come, and as bitsamissin said if u did go to the trouble make it coils. better yet do the body lift etc so much cheaper and easier

My....that is a nice L200!
But then I might be slightly biased!
For info.....it's on a 2" Suspension lift & a 3" body lift....OME torsion bars & 35" Fedimas.
That said.....the front Diff & drive shafts are made of chocolate! & I'm sick of breaking them! So I'm presently doing a SAS onto Nissan Patrol axles.
The rear axle pops straight on with no real modifications, the front axle is away for retubing & I'll then throw that on. Sorry to say.....I'm not going to coils.....I'll be on leaf springs all round! But then I'm not in it for articulation.....I'm in it for the strength of the Nissan Axles! Add ARB's & off we go to play! But then I'm just getting into Challenge events & broken diffs & shafts are a real pain!
But.....I've also been off roading it hard for 5 years!

hah sounds good, btw got 2 leaf packs of a falcon the ohter day, look very good nic, also got some steering bits and pieces ready, also got a 80 series pitman arm today, diffs arrive on monday and shackels on tuesday, should have diff centres next few weeks along wif brake lines and front drive shaft, diff centres are 4.88s, shock hoops are getting made as we speak and havent decided on shocks yet
i never intended this 2 flex madly just wanted alot of hieght ,dual locked and running 35s+

Wicked man. You should chase some sponsorship, though I'm undecided who would be a candidate: matchbox mechanix, bush mechanics, or I HAVE NFI Inc.

classic ranger j funnies
wheres the muppets 4x4 pic of the powerlines?
it certainly is an odd combination of gear ur gonna be running, seeing as ur goin more for looks the practicality, why not just suspension lift, body lift, trim guards, wack in a front locker then ur set to go?
