I really like the option to carry the jack across the rear bumper!
That's cool.

Anyone got a picture of one mounted horizontally by the towbar? Also has anyone noticed problems with the extra weight of the jack causing cracking on standard rear door mounted applications? I know GU's can have problems with this anyway let alone with the extra weight.

Well, I wouldn't mount anything more than a spare wheel on the door. Sometimes even that is too much.

My door feels really heavy and stressed with the 33 hanging off it.

Now that I'm going to 35"s, I have no other choice but to buy a wheel carrier rear bar :?

But I still like the highlift mount for the towbar.... I might have to make something up.... pretty simple bracket actually.

mate your GU door will carry a 35 inch tyre easy, it wont stress the door :)
it will carry a 35 and a highlift no problem.

But you need a bracket to space the carrier up a bit to fit a 35 on the door don't ya?

Doesn't look like it would fit without modifications.

Depends on vehicle - GU yes you need a bracket to lift the wheel higher to clear bumper. GQ is OK - just slot the holes in the door bracket and slide it a bit closer to the hinge but then watch tail light lense when fully opening. A very bald 35 works a treat.

I have tested these hi lift mounts on my GQ with 35" and wide offset wheel - works fine. But agreed the poor old door is ready to fall off as it is.

Been thinking of extended hinges so that when you open the door the wheel clears the tail light lense - worth me persuing do you think? Would be nice to have a spare with tread.

Definately persue the extended hinges Hobzee. I reckon they would sell very well. I could use a set for mine so I can get the door open properly to get full access to my drawers!
