EGR Valve

does anyone body know if i can disconnect the egr valve on a td42ti motor out of a 06 gu patrol.
If so does it affect any thing? And whats is its purpose?

egr is for emmisions. depends what emmision rules you have to comply with.
to disable just block it off ie a plate inbetween it and the inlet manifold.
also check operation of the butterfly in the inlet tube, if it operates when motor is running then it will be for egr and needs to be disabled.

if you just disconnect it, you will have the engine light on all the time as it records faults. just block it as tweak'e said.

i wouldnt have thought this would be a problem either, considering its going into a GQ, and i dont think Dane will be puttin the computer crap into it if he can get around it,

i'm not 100% on these motors but i suspect unless he changes injection pump he will need to fit ECU.

not on a td42.
before mechanically blocking it off i had driven around with it electrically unplugged. NO light.
