I bout a 75 series with an after market security system thing and the installation looks like a heap of spaghetti. I want to rewire the whole thing, hidden, away from the ignition barrel and solder, not tape.
There are heaps of wires coming out of the unit but not all are used. It has central locking on the 3 doors, immobiliser, the hazards go birko when I open a door and I believe there is an alarm but I heard it briefly today for the first time ever, it sounded like a cat being strangled and isn't very loud. The only brandname I can see is SPACEKEY... lol

So are the wiring diagrams fairly similar, if so have you got one?

if it was me, id piss the immobiliser and alarm off and fit a new one, maybe an OEX or vision are ok, depending on what you want it to do and how much u wanna spend you'l be looking at maybe 100-300 bucks.

mount it under the dash somewhere on the drivers side where it will fit, you said you want it away from the ignition barrell but you may have to extend wiring depending on where you can find space to mount the module.
hook the central locking up into that and fit a new siren under the bonnet coz yours sounds like its carked it.
the new immobiliser will come with a wiring diagram and the old immob. should be fairly self explanitory when you look at the wiring and use a test light. use the old immobilisation points, they should be easy to find if you follow the wiring and the indicators, accessories, ignition etc. using a test light or multimeter.
you will need to find out how the central locking is switched, you may need to throw a few relays in there but if its an aftermarket job id imagine it will hook up to the new immobiliser pretty easy.

hope this is helpful.

Thanks mate, picked myself up a hornet for $300 today, seems pretty good. Hopefully I'll get to install it this week sometime.
